Open and Affirming at 50 Years: A History and a Future
Fifty years ago, this year marked two very important milestones in the United Church of Christ. In June of that year, Rev. Bill Johnson became the first openly gay minister ordained in any mainline church. And also, that same year saw the founding of the UCC Gay Caucus, which has since become the Open and Affirming Coalition. To commemorate these significant anniversaries, the NJ UCC is hosting a celebration featuring two distinguished speakers, Rev. Andy Lang and Rev. Charing Wei-Jen Chen.
