Call to Worship The McEvoy Family

Leader:  Today we light the Candle of Hope. This Sunday we remember the Christ child is the hope of the world. We remember especially this day our neighbors near and far who live under the cloud of despair – those who are reeling from rejection; those who haven’t enough food; those watching loved ones die helplessly; those who live in a world that is not safe.
Leader:  We follow a star
People:  though it is faint on the horizon.
Leader:  That those around us might have courage
People:  in the future and in themselves.
All:  May we keep the faith

Lord’s Prayer (“debts/debtors”)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts
As we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil,
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever. Amen

The annual Church Financial Review meeting will be held on Sunday, December 13, in Barnwell Hall following the first service. The Executive Board will present the current and prospective operating budgets and provide opportunity for discussion and questions. The meeting is open to all. A formal Congregational meeting to approve the operating budget will be held in early January 2010. Please plan to attend both meetings.

The Board of World Fellowship (BWF) is “the outreach arm of Christ Church with a mission to serve and facilitate the endeavors of local, national, and international communities through financial and/or volunteer support organizations, projects, and emergency relief efforts” (BWF Guidelines, August 2003). BWF is especially interested in supporting the interests and volunteer activities of our congregation. If you have a passion for and/or involvement in a particular not-for-profit group who could benefit from greater financial and/or volunteer support, please contact Co-Chairs Rebecca Spence or Jan Glassman, or any member of BWF (see "lists" in the Members section of the church web site for BWF members and contact information).

Sign-Up NOW for ADVENT WORKSHOP on DECEMBER 6th: Our annual Advent Workshop is Sunday December 6th.

We will make advent crafts starting after the service at 10:30 and finishing by 11:30 to share a lunch of Chili and Pasta e Fagiole, then join together for a carol-sing and be done by noon. (There will be only one church service.)

Adults and children of all ages will find fellowship, fun and great food. Join in a whirlwind of Christmas activities, making ornaments, gingerbread large or small houses, and for the truly “crafty”, assembling miniature boxwood trees or holiday wreaths. It's the best way to kick off the Advent season, as well a make new ornaments and Christmas décor for our homes! Not into crafts? Then just socialize and join in for lunch and caroling.
