There is no Sunday school today. 2 and 3 year olds may stay in worship or go to the nursery. Financial Update and Budget Outlook: Please save a place on your schedule for the fifth annual Christ Church Financial Review. We will meet on Sunday, December 9, after coffee hour in Barnwell Hall to review and discuss Christ Church’s current and prospective operating budgets and to report on the financial status of the church. In addition, the Executive Board will present a list of current and future projects that require the attention of the Christ Church community. A package of financial reports and related notes for your review will be circulated by e-mail or may be picked up at the church several days prior to the meeting. It is our intention for the congregation to adopt an Operating Budget for 2008 at a congregational meeting in January 2008. Before that meeting, we will circulate a more complete budget proposal, based on the results of the stewardship campaign and other information now being collected. We are looking forward to seeing you December 9. Christ Church Executive Board: The Pledge Campaign is underway. Please give thought as to what Christ Church means to you, not only on Sunday, but daily. Also, consider the many outreach programs the Church supports. Mail in your pledge or put it in the plate on Sunday. Please have pledges in by Dec 2. The following Sunday we will discuss the 2008 budget at a meeting of the congregation The Sunday school will be making breakfast bags for Bridges on Dec. 23: Please help us by bringing in the following items by December 16 and placing them on the table between the elevator and the nursery. Granola bars, Protein bars, Individual cereal boxes/cups Small boxes of long-life milk (like Parmalat), Fruit cups Juice boxes Holiday Gift Requests from Bridges: The Christ Church Community has been asked to provide the following items for gifts to Bridges’ homeless friends. Mark your calendars now for our the Christ Church social event to the year, our Progressive Dinner on Saturday, February 9th, 2008. We will start with cocktails at the home of Stacey and Gage Olcott at 194 Oak Ridge Avenue, then enjoy dinner at 12-14 host houses and conclude with dessert and dancing at Kate and Chuck Rush's. Invitations will be mailed in early January. NEW DINNER HOSTS NEEDED so past hosts can be guests! If you would like to be a dinner host, please contact Nora Holley or Kristi Wagner asap. We provide all the food and drink, hosts just need to set the table! TRIP TO NICARAGUA, JANUARY 5-18, 2008: Meet the organizations we support. Find out how much our aid means to them. See our many donations being put to use. Enjoy the tropical winter (mid-80s, sunny and dry). Visit different regions of Nicaragua. Spanish ability nice but not required. Summit/Millburn Student Groups Host Special Darfur Film Event: A screening of The Devil Came on Horseback, an award-winning documentary about Captain Brian Steidle’s experience as a witness to genocide in Darfur, will take place at Millburn High School at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. A Q&A panel discussion will follow, moderated by our own Rev. Chuck Rush and featuring Brian Steidle, Annie Sundberg (co-director) and Olivier Bercault of Human Rights Watch. This event is hosted by the Summit and Millburn chapters of the student group Help Darfur Now with support from area Darfur awareness and faith groups. Tickets are $10 for students/seniors, $15 general admission, and are available at the door, or in advance at the Unitarian Church or by contacting Rebecca Spence. Proceeds will support efforts to build educational facilities within the Darfur refugee camps through the organization Global Grassroots. Patrick Wood’s debut solo CD is available for purchase in the atrium after church. This recording is of unaccompanied violin music from the Baroque period, previously unrecorded and still unpublished. The CD makes a great gift, or beautiful listening for yourself and your family! *************************
